The Kurds are nomadic herdsmen and agricultural
people of the mountains and plateaus of Kurdistan, a region that
is divided between Turkey, Iraq, Iran and Azerbaijan. The
Kurdi is a distinct breed, the smallest of the Oksh group.
The Kurdi is humpless with small horns or polled. The animals are
fineboned and lightly muscled. They range in color from black
to greyish brown or beige, with a lighter band on the muzzle.
Mature cows average 300 kg in weight.
