Stimulus 2020

Embrio Plus is proudly celebrating 40 years as the pioneer of the embryo and semen industry in Africa.

Dr. Ronnie de la Rey started this impactful journey in 1980, and today we are looking back with gratitude at all the milestones along the way, but still keeping an eye on the new opportunities and challenges that the future presents.

Whilst embryo flushing and transfers, semen freezing and AI steams ahead as always, we have steadily added IVF, cloning, artificial reproductive techniques in game species, the rhino project, quarantine, the export of genetics and livestock, training courses, the trade in all applicable apparatus, media and drugs and the import of world-class genetics via Embrio Plus /AltaZA to our bow as we continue to expand and explore new potential.

It is, unfortunately, a well-known fact that South African agriculture is under immense pressure after some serious setbacks during the last few years, such as protracted droughts, foot and mouth disease outbreaks and now Covid 19.

In light of this, Embrio Plus decided, during our 40th anniversary, to make a contribution to revive the improvement of cattle genetics under established beef breeders and at the same time enable and empower new role players to become involved.

Embrio Plus proudly announces the STIMULUS genetics promotion.

This unique project launches in July 2020 and is available to all Southern African cattle breeders.

Embryos

Certain embryos, of a wide variety of breeds, are going to be made available at give-away prices or even for free, from July 2020 to July 2021, in an effort to get commercial breeders’ genetic programs going again and offer new or upcoming farmers the opportunity to acquire proven genetics at affordable prices.

Several of our longstanding friends joined us in this effort and pledged to offer their embryos, at a discount of up to 90% on the normal embryo prices. Many of these embryos have never been in the market, and we are incredibly thankful and hugely excited over the progeny that will be born out of this project over the next years.

Embryos that are going to be on offer include the following breeds:

Lists of the embryos will be made available from July 1st on request, and will also be distributed to current clients via email and posted on www.embryoplus.com. Enquiries can be made at info@embryoplus.com and booking is confirmed with payment.

Embryos are to be transferred by Embrio Plus, at our normal rates.

Any “free” embryos need to be transferred before August 2021, or an alternative arrangement must be made regarding further storage of these embryos.

Semen

Additionally, frozen semen of a range of older, registered AI bulls, collected under quarantine, will be made available for free to commercial cattle breeders or any new or emerging farmers in order to actively empower the next generation of commercial breeders. These bulls and semen straws were extensively tested as prescribed and present a negligible risk for disease transmission and their genetics were approved at time of registration by Stock Improvement and the various breed societies.

Lists of the different breeds of cattle involved, will also be made available on the above mentioned platforms.

Anybody wishing to make use of this offer, can send an email to info@embryoplus.com. Veterinarians and registered cattle inseminators are also welcome to obtain semen for their clients or empowerment campaigns in their areas, with the only requirement being that the semen straws involved have to be supplied for free to the client and may not be resold.

Delivery of the semen to various areas will be handled within the Embrio Plus and AltaZA network without any costs, but any courier services or special deliveries would be for the client’s account.

With thanks to all our loyal friends of the last 40 years, and looking forward to meet the next generation of cattle breeders;

The Embryo Plus team
